Breakdown Of The Happenings During The Week

If there is one thing people in Nigeria learned this week, it is that words are weighty and whatever treatment is meted to a person, it is just a matter of time before the affected person will react.
Here is a rundown of the week:
Barbie weds Ken!
Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper Nicki Minaj has finally tied the knot with her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty after less than one year of dating. Minaj announced her marriage Monday night on Instagram via a video in which she showed off matching “Mr. and Mrs.” mugs and “Bride” and “Groom” baseball caps. Recall that Minaj and Petty got their marriage license from a Beverly Hills courthouse. They first dated when the rapper was 16. Minaj’s romance with Petty has been a cause for constant backlash from fans consequent of Petty’s criminal records which include attempted rape and first-degree manslaughter.
Always goes trans
Always Sanitary Product will remove the Venus symbol, a symbolism for feminity, from their products so they can include transgender and nonbinary customers. CNN reports that this decision results from transgender activists and allies call on Procter & Gamble to redesign its pad wrapper without the gender symbol, a circle atop a cross. Among their arguments is that not all people who menstruate are women and that not all women menstruate. In line with the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, this decision will materialise by 2020.
Ponzi couple?
Nigeria’s social media space has been buzzing with allegations of scam business ventures, poor treatment of former staff and a toxic work environment against the founders of Divergent Enterprises and popular motivational business couple, Glory Osei and Muyiwa Folohunso. Osei, in a series of tweets and a separate statement, denied running Ponzi schemes as businesses. These accusations date back to 2014. According to her, the allegations were the handiwork of disgruntled ex-staff trying to bring down. While she threatened to take to court those who defamed her brand, her husband, Muyiwa has kept mute since the allegations.
A joke too far
Earlier in the week, two ladies caused a stir on social media after they accused Davido of impregnating their sister. They said that the reason for coming out is because the new father has since refused to pick her calls or acknowledge her. As a result, they threatened that he either claims the baby or face the consequences of his action while emphasizing that they don’t need his money. Less than 4 hours later, Davido placed a N1 million bounty and promised to sue them for N30 billion. 42 minutes later, they claimed it was a joke.
Eating his words?
One month after the Xenophobic attack in South Africa, Nigerian recording artiste, Burna Boy, is set to perform in the Southern African country. South African news outlet, IOL reports that Burna Boy would be headlining the African Unite concert scheduled to hold in Cape Town and Tshwane next month. However, reacting to this news, South African rapper AKA dares Burna Boy to make true a threat the “Ye” crooner had made during the Xenophobic attacks. “I would love to attend this show and watch this man put his hands on me in my own country,” AKA tweeted.
